In the north of the island of Fuerteventura are the dunes of Corralejo. Quiet and peaceful, as if time stood still. The wind creates a new work of art every night, an ever-changing painting of meter-high sand dunes. They sing a magical song that can only be heard by surrendering fully to the magic. In between, scattered green plants and surreal trees. Visitors leave hearts of stones in the desert, which one encounters again and again as one ventures into this solitude.
The sunlight interspersed with the play of the clouds creates shadows drawn from cloud bands and plays of colours in ever-changing scenarios every second.
A lonely highway meanders along this silent desert world, punctuated by surfers on the beach amidst ultimate peace and tranquillity. On the opposite side, white beaches and rocky soft cliffs fall into the turquoise sea that glitters with crystals that you can’t get enough of. This sea of trillions of sparkling stars can play all the Caribbean tones. The dolphins swim far out in the sea and radiate their happiness all the way to the beach.
At the end of this desert along the sea nestles a bosom of golden expanse. There stands Montaña Roja (Red Mountain) in the midst of its volcanic soil. For me it is the “holy red mountain”.
This island is a place of magic and love, healing and mysticism, a place made for connecting souls. It inspires and vibrates. A place where miracles happen. We experience these miracles in conversations and encounters, just as we want to pass them on in DERSALON. I therefore invite you to be a part of this “connecting souls”.
Yours, Sylvia Freygner
