Der Salon is a woman’s invention. It is the creation of a space in a private sphere. In search of new forms of communication and closeness.  The Salon served as a meeting place for great minds. Great issues of the time were discussed. The French Enlightenment. The question of human self-determination. The problem of body and soul. The opposition of determinism and freedom. The criticism of the religion or the institution of the church.

Today we stand on the threshold of a new age. The age of knowledge is continuously replacing the age of industrialization. Man is a glass vessel driven by data. The questions have remained to be the same. Man’s self-determination. The question of meaning and spirituality. Determinism and freedom in the face of new media.

With the Renaissance, antiquity revived and the old became new. In DERSALON we revive this old Renaissance and let it rise again. We ask the same questions in our time, giving the spirit some space, beyond digital media, to re-explore ancient questions of humanity.
